Home Wall Updating Ideas

Dec 01, 2017

We’ve all been there.  You walk into a home and immediately feel like you’ve been placed into a time machine.  It’s almost like walking through a museum.  The kitchen floors are made of linoleum that is pretending to be tile.  The living room floors are covered in carpet that is hiding years of secrets (and dust mites and who knows what else).  The walls are dressed in wallpaper that makes you nauseous if you look long enough at it.  And don’t even get me started on the kitchen.  The kitchen, with its goal of making you feel like June Cleaver, instead makes you never want to pick up a spatula again.  You’d rather eat at Chipotle every night than have to chop onions on a green countertop surrounded by mustard yellow cabinets.  I know I know, first world problems right?

Despite the time warp, landing yourself a home like this is actually an incredible investment opportunity.  Chances are, you got the house for a pretty good price, and you now have the ability to transform it into something beautiful.  By following these simple steps, you can update this home and flip it for a profit in no time.

Simply removing wallpaper and painting a wall will do wonders for an old home.  However, wallpaper removal can be time consuming and costly.  Not to mention, there is usually drywall repair to be done.  Instead, consider using faux stone panels to cover the wall.  The best part about faux stone panels is they can be applied directly over any existing surface. They are easily secured with liquid nails and screws, and will last for years to come.  If stone isn’t your look, try faux wood or faux brick panels.  They make an amazing kitchen backsplash, accent wall, or even shower/bath wall.  They are also DIY!
